An occupational therapist works with people whose lives have been disrupted by physical injury or illness, developmental problems, the aging process, and social or psychological difficulties. Occupational therapists use selected educational, vocational and rehabilitative activities to help individuals reach the highest functional levels possible, become self-reliant and build a balanced lifestyle of work and leisure. The working environment of Occupational therapists varies from specially equipped facilities in hospitals or clinics to schools, private offices, and private homes.
Andrews University Track
The program below meets Andrews University admission requirements, as well as Southern Adventist University’s requirements for an A.S. degree. This program can be modified to meet the requirements of other schools. The Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (DPT) program at Andrews is three years in length.
Andrews University Admission and Degree Requirements:
Twenty (20) hours of observation are strongly recommended.
