Students majoring in Spanish who are seeking teaching certification are required to travel abroad for one (1) academic year, to conduct studies at one of the ACA locations (Argentina or Spain). It is highly recommended that students fulfill this requirement during their sophomore year.
Select 28 credits from the following types of courses: Academic Year Abroad in Argentina or Spain: Study abroad consists of approximately 42 quarter hours (approximately 28 semester hours). If not taken previously, students must take the equivalent of SPAN 207 and 208 while abroad. Students should also take a culture and civilization course sequence equivalent to SPAN 354 (3 semester hours), a SPAN literature course equivalent to 3 semester hours, and a physical education/physical activity course. Students should also take a course equivalent to SPAN 243. Courses from other disciplines may be taken. See ACA catalog or visit aca-noborders.org.
