Description
This course is the second in a sequence that moves beyond an examination of the social welfare system and relating historical development of social welfare policies and services to studying various models to analyze social problems, welfare programs, and social policies at the organizational, local, state, national and international levels. Emphasis is placed on developing the knowledge and skills needed to critically assess policy, engage in advocacy, and influence decision-making processes. Through applied experiences, students will practice advancing policies consistent with social work values. A social policy study tour to Washington, DC or the State Capitol is required to complete the course.
