Description

This course provides students with an applied introduction to international diplomacy and multilateral negotiation through participation in Model United Nations (MUN). It trains students to think critically about global governance while developing essential professional skills in negotiation, research, public speaking, and coalition building. By simulating real UN bodies, students gain firsthand insight into the complexities of diplomacy and the competing interests that shape international policy. Students will learn about the United Nations' operations, practice formal debate and resolution writing, and represent assigned countries in simulations addressing pressing global issues, including climate change, human rights, development, and security. Can be repeated for up to four credits.
