Description

An art history survey course that focuses on the rise of Christianity during the Middle Ages, the subsequent development of Renaissance humanism, and its influence on painting, sculpture, and architecture. The course covers the interactions between major Italian and Northern Renaissance artistic centers and their movements, continuing to the late Baroque period of the 1700s. Attention is given to Baroque artists and those expressions reacting to the Protestant Reformation. This course is cross-listed with ARTH 235. A student may receive credit for this course from only one program.
