This course introduces the fundamental language of design used to create meaning and function in visual communication on the 2-D plane. Students will investigate concepts and principles of organization in relation to the visual elements, with an emphasis on color theory. Methods of generating and editing the visual plane will be explored through a range of creative processes and media. Visual analysis of historical, contemporary, and personal work will foster vocabulary development, technical skills, and critical awareness.
