About

Advisement and Program Coordinator: Sharon Rogers

The Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees with a major in General Studies are designed for students who have not made a career decision at the time they enter the University. These degrees offer them an opportunity to earn a large part of the general requirements for a baccalaureate degree while leaving some semester hours free for exploration in areas of their choice.

General Studies, A.A.

Major: The completion of the General Education requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree with the exception: Six hours instead of 12 will be required for Area R, Religion and two out of four hours of physical activity. Six hours of an elementary foreign language must be included unless two units of the same language were earned in high school. A minimum total of 64 semester hours with a cumulative minimum grade point average of 2.00 is required. Students who plan to eventually complete a bachelor's degree should include some upper division credit and a "W" (writing emphasis) course in the second semester of their second year.
